The law requires businesses with online services, products or features "likely to be accessed by children" to:
- turn privacy and safety settings up to a level that is "protective of children's mental and physical health and well-being" unless the online platform can determine that the consumer is an adult
- conduct "data protection impact assessments" every time they release a new feature "likely to be accessed by children"
- make the assessments available to the CA Attorney General upon request
