📱Arizona HB 2661

Issue: Device Filters

Latest Action: Passed House Judiciary committee on January 31, 2024

This bill provides that starting on January 1, 2026, any device activated in the state of Arizona must have a filter that prevents access to obscene material. During the activation and account setup, the device must also determine the age of the user. The filter must be set to "on" for users who are minors, and a password must be provided to enable or disable the filter. The device must also notify the user when the filter blocks access to a website. Manufacturers are subjected to civil and criminal liability if their devices do not comply with the filter requirements and a minor accesses obscene material on the device.
