California AB 392

Issue: Consent, Porn Restriction

Latest Action: Passed the Assembly, sent to the Senate on June 5, 2025

This bill requires content-sharing websites with at least 33% sexually explicit content to require users to submit a statement confirming that performers are over 18 and consented to the content being uploaded.

It would also require websites to remove content with 48 hours if they receive a request from a person depicted in it. Failure to remove content may result in lawsuits for up to $75k per day that the content remains on the website after the 48 hour window.
