Florida SB 472

Issue: Age Verification

Latest Action: Died in commitee on May 5, 2023

Louisiana AVS law copycat.

This bill is a grab bag of regressive, anti-industry policies, including the requirement that  websites that contain "a substantial portion of material that may be harmful to minors" perform "reasonable" age verification.

The bill also requires adult theaters to keep photocopies of government-issued IDs for current and former contractors and employees that can be inspected during unannounced warrantless searches by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Additionally, it provides for judges to force anyone found guilty of soliciting commercial sex to attend a state-funded faith-based "education" program.

If passed, it would take effect on July 1, 2023.
