Ohio Innocence Act (2025)

Combination nonconsensual deepfake ban and age verification mandate. Relevant features of the age verification mandate:

• Enforcement: a website that provides access to adult content in Ohio without age-verifying is guilty of a misdemeanor; each day that access is provided constitutes a separate offense.
• Age verification mechanisms allowed:
  • a commercial age verification system that uses photo identification or public or private transactional data to verify the person's age
  • third-party and governmental databases that use a commercial age verification system that uses photo identification or public or private transactional data to verify the person's age
• Also requires re-verification of age every 2 years.
